Janet Moore, Syska Hennessy Group’s New England director of vertical transportation, is an expert in elevator consulting and design. Her in-depth knowledge of elevator codes as well as her keen working knowledge of electrical and mechanical codes in relation to elevator areas has made Janet a sought-after asset in the industry. Janet has extensive experience in all facets and complexities of the elevator industry, including vertical transportation design, traffic and feasibility studies, due diligence studies, comprehensive condition reports, budget analysis and projections, full project manuals and specifications, and construction administration. She has been instrumental in assisting to develop service processes to facilitate the most efficient delivery systems.
In her 13 years with Syska Boston, Janet has provided vertical transportation services for a variety of markets and high-end clientele, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston College, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Massachusetts General Hospital. She has also helped lead her division to become the “House Doctor” for the following government entities: the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) and the city of Boston.
Appointed by the governor of Massachusetts, Janet serves as chairman on the Massachusetts Board of Elevator Appeals in the position of consulting engineer. She is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities International (NAESA International) under the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in accordance with ASME QEI-1, Standard for the Qualification of Elevator Inspectors, and she is a certified and qualified elevator inspector (QEI).
Janet is passionate about the elevator profession, and brings a personal commitment to excellence to each and every project in which she is involved. In her spare time, she is an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and volunteers in assisting veterans and disabled veterans and contributing to various veterans’ and veterans’ family causes.
