Riverside County needed to upgrade their ability to respond to emergencies throughout the county. To meet this need, the County acquired a former water district building and converted it into their new EOC to provide a command post for emergencies in the western part of the county. Funds for the project were provided as part of the COVID-19 CARES Act which meant construction had to be complete by the end of 2020.
Syska was part of the Hensel Phelps design build team. As the selected EOC designer, Syska worked with the County and our trade partners to engineer a fully flexible system. The data network controls and routes the information from any computer in the EOC to any screen where it was required to support the mission. By using an IP transport solution, the system is easy to use, takes up less rack space, and can easily be expanded in the future as the needs of the county grow over time.
