Pocahontas State Office Building, Richmond, VA

As part of the revitalization of the state’s legislative building for the Virginia State Senate and House of Representatives, Syska provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, lighting, telecommunications, security and audio/visual design services for the 16-story Pocahontas State Office Building in Richmond, Virginia.  The building was refurbished to temporarily house the members of the Virginia General Assembly until a new General Assembly building is completed.

The key challenge was implementing new technology in an old, historic building and making it functional and flexible within a limited budget. This project required extensive coordination and focus on maintaining data centers and occupied office spaces while bringing in extensive, new infrastructure and finishes for the renovated areas.
