College Football Hall of Fame, Atlanta, GA
The College Football Hall of Fame in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, is intended to simulate a game-day experience. It blends exhibits and architecture, unique relics of the game and interactive galleries. These varied spaces required a flexible approach to HVAC, electrical and lighting engineering designs.
To achieve museum-appropriate temperature and humidity control while quietly delivering clean air across tall galleries, Syska Hennessy Group designed a laminar flow solution. We used a hybrid approach to space conditioning to separate the open, interactive galleries from the artifacts housed in climate-controlled enclosures.
Our selection of lighting fixtures matches architectural design of clean modern lines, and enhances the material selection. Sustainable sources were used for energy efficiency and ease of maintenance. The exhibit spaces utilize all-LED lighting systems integrated into the architectural design, ceiling coves, vertical wall slots, linear steplight details, illuminated handrails, and edge-lit fins with exhibit text and graphics. The lighting-control system incorporates architectural and exhibit lighting as well as the audiovisual program.
The “Field” space includes a tensile fabric roof that allows daylight to illuminate the field. Concealed LED uplight fixtures light the fabric roof in the evening. Truss-mounted LED downlights with two Kelvin temperatures (4000K and 3000K) are used separately for day and evening functions, thus making the space available as a venue for events.
