Robert Saunders, MIET, CDCAP
MENA Site Leader
As site leader for Syska in MENA, Robert Saunders oversees our Dubai team, clients and projects. Previously he lead the Facilities Management and Commissioning (FMCx) MENA team, focusing on mechanical and electrical engineering, thermal imaging, budget management, and, among others, data center assessments, audits and developing policies and procedures.
Robert brings more than 16 years of experience in facilities and data center management, working on a variety of data center commissioning and facilities management projects across the globe, including UK’s CSC data center portfolio, Tanzania’s National Microfinance Bank, Saudi Arabia’s Aramco Corporate Data Center, and the Chevron Corporation in Texas and is currently leading the commissioning effort for Mauritius Telecoms TIER IV data center.
He began his career in 1998 as Cummins Power Generation Facilities Engineer. Before joining Syska, he worked at Johnson Controls and Waterman International, and has experience working with Blue Chip organizations in London. Robert moved to the region in 2008 and became the Engineering Manager for Injazat Data Systems TIER IV premier data center in Abu Dhabi, where he built the operations team and implemented the facility management operations strategy and continued to manage the facility for 4 years.
In addition to receiving a BTEC Higher National Certificate in mechanical engineering from Canterbury Christ Church University, Robert holds a BTEC Level 5 Professional Certificate, NVQ in Engineering Manufacture, and is a certified data center audit professional and certified Level 1 Thermographer.
