G. Venkata Ramu is Syska Hennessy Group’s corporate chief engineer and executive vice president. Ramu, who has been with Syska for over 40 years, has been instrumental on many of the firm’s most iconic projects, including the United Nations, NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Greenberg Pavilion, NYPH Milstein Heart Hospital and New York Empire State Plaza.
Ramu, who is focused on the continuous improvement of the firm’s technical capabilities, leads the firm’s technical leadership committee and guides team members across the firm in design excellence and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards.
His experience ranges from major hospital projects in the U.S., Middle East and Europe to high-profile commercial and government projects in the U.S., including NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center campuses, the United Nations headquarters complex and New York’s Empire State Plaza. Ramu enjoys working on complex and challenging projects such as the closely coordinated, 18-story David H. Koch Center for NewYork-Presbyterian, and a hospital redesign for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Frankfurt, Germany, where the project team tackled language differences, team diversity and physical-distance challenges to complete a successful, profitable project.
Ramu holds a MS from the University of Mississippi and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Mysore in India. When asked what inspires and excites him, Ramu points to his continuous pursuit of client satisfaction: “Make people feel they gained more than what they came in with. If no gain, they won’t show up again.”
