Syska Hennessy Promotes Nine Professionals to Associate Principal

James Carrigan, Fire/Life Safety Expert
James Carrigan is an associate practice area director charged with growing our fire alarm and life safety business across the firm. During his tenure at Syska Hennessy, Jim has focused on the design and analysis of fire/life safety in high-rise buildings, where he has contributed his expertise to hundreds of successful large-scale commercial, government, healthcare and aviation projects nationwide.
Jim currently serves on the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New York Fire Codes Committee, and also serves as a liaison to the FDNY for a confidential client. He is a nationally certified Firefighter 1, former paramedic, and chief officer with the Nassau County Fire Services, coordinating several responses to the World Trade Center site on 9/11 for rescue and recovery.
Alex Engelman, Lead Electrical Engineer
Alex joined Syska New York in 2012. Alex is an associate practice area director and is charged with growing Syska business in the aviation, healthcare, government and commercial markets. He has worked on some of the firms most prestigious projects including Governors Island, Delta Airlines, NYU Langone Health and manages the electrical manpower for the New York office.
He has focused on the engineering design and management of electrical systems for aviation, healthcare, education, government, and commercial projects. Alex is a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in New York and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He earned his BEE from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and his Master of Science in construction management from Polytechnic Institute of NYU.
Mike Falkenstern, CEA, CxAP, LEED AP BD+C
Michael Falkenstern is an associate practice area director in charge of growing our Commissioning business and expertise of the northeast markets. He is well versed in the complexities of the commissioning, construction and operations process, from pre-design through to post-occupancy. He works closely with owners, contractors and design engineers to provide a full range of facilities management and commissioning (FMCx) services.
Michael has worked on some of the firms most prestigious projects including One Bryant Park tower and holds several key client relationships including Google and Morgan Stanley. Michael holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Rutgers University. He is also a certified energy auditor (CEA), commissioning authority provider (CxAP) as well as a LEED Accredited Professional (AP), and he has managed all aspects of the commissioning process.
Josh Fluecke, PE, LEED AP ®
Joshua Fluecke serves as associate practice area director specializing in the electrical systems design and commissioning for commercial/offices, healthcare, critical facilities, aviation, and university projects. Joining Syska Chicago in 2011, he has managed numerous projects throughout all stages of design, construction, testing and commissioning, and completion. He is charged with growing our business in the critical facilities and commercial markets. He holds many of Syska’s key client relationship including Microsoft. He is a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and Missouri. Joshua is also a LEED Accredited Professional and the vice-chairman for the Electric Association’s Consulting Electrical Engineers Division. He holds a BS in electrical engineering from The University of Illinois at Chicago.
Niki Fox, PE, LEED AP ®
Niki Fox started his career in Syska’s Phoenix office in 2007 after graduating from Arizona State University with a BS in mechanical engineering. Now in our New York headquarters, Niki is an associate practice area director and is charged with growing our business and expertise in the commercial infrastructure and broadcast media markets. Known for his broad knowledge of all MEP trades Niki has led numerous large sc projects. Most notable projects include NBC at Rockefeller Center, JP Morgan Chase 270 Park, and Wells Fargo Trading Floors. He is a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in New York and California and a LEED Accredited Professional.
George Hachem, PE, LEED AP®
George joined Syska in 2017 and is an associate practice area director located in our Raleigh, NC office. As APAD he is charged with growing the firm’s business and expertise in the Life Sciences market. He has over 30 years of experience in providing leadership, strategy, and direction over multidisciplinary business units including pharmaceutical, medical device, research facilities and critical facilities and various regions. George has supervised complex capital improvement and construction projects for clients experiencing rapid growth and dynamic change while delivering brownfield and greenfield initiatives and administering operations and process-control infrastructure. He is a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Virginia. George is also a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). He has been published and a panel participant at the IMN Conference in New York. George earned his MS and BS in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University.
Sean Marcel, PE
Sean Marcel, who joined Syska New York in 2006, began working in the firm’s critical facilities group, focusing on financial clients. Sean is a senior electrical engineer who transferred to the San Diego office in 2015. Now as an associate managing director of the office he is responsible for its overall operation and performance.
He is skilled at leading projects that heavily emphasize collaborative design to accomplish architects’ and owners’ vision. Sean is an advocate for making projects as lean and efficient as possible. One way he does this is by working with Syska’ s Los Angeles office to share resources, providing the client with an integrated Southern California team. Sean holds a BS in electrical engineering from Binghamton University of The State University of New York and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
Kevin Meyer is the associate managing director (AMD) of the Jacksonville office. As AMD of the office, he is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the office. He is an electrical consulting engineer for highly complex facilities, ranging from critical facilities and office buildings to animal research facilities and pharmaceutical laboratories. He currently focuses on client relationship development across the entire state.
Since starting with Syska Hennessy Group, Kevin has grown the Florida market base and currently maintains client relationships for multiple Fortune 500 companies. Kevin graduated with a BS in architectural engineering with an emphasis in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas.
Alex Myers, LEED AP®
Alex Myers started with Syska Hennessy Group’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office in 2004, where he has enjoyed playing a critical role in the tremendous growth of the office.
Under his supervision, the office has diversified its engineering market share, and now provides engineering services for critical facilities, healthcare, infrastructure, aviation, higher education and commercial interiors. Now Associate Managing Director of the Charlotte, Raleigh and Atlanta offices, he is responsible for the overall operation and performance of these offices. Alex graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he studied mechanical engineering. Alex is licensed in the state of North Carolina as a professional engineer and is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
