Syska 2021 Corporate Sustainability Report is Here

Climate change is endangering civilization. A few years ago, that statement might have seemed overdramatic. No longer: It’s clear today that the dangers are very real. Given that the built environment contributes nearly 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, we feel that the A/E/C industry has an urgent obligation to help reduce them.

Syska Hennessy is working hard on this effort. We recently joined the MEP 2040 Challenge, created by the Carbon Leadership Forum. Signatories commit to advocating for and achieving net zero carbon in their projects, with deadlines of 2030 for operational carbon and 2040 for embodied carbon.

To meet these goals, we are building on a strong foundation. Our projects have already achieved a total carbon reduction of 24,312 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent beyond the ASHRAE baseline. Our office projects have achieved 41% less energy use than the national median and our healthcare projects have achieved 17% less.

But there is more progress to be made. One of the reasons we’ve issued this corporate sustainability report is to hold ourselves accountable. We are setting ambitious objectives and measuring our success. We invite you to click the link below to learn more about what we’re doing to promote decarbonization and review the data we’ve gathered.

We hope you find the report informative and inspiring. Join us on our journey.
