The Pentagon Memorial
October 26, 2008Selected from a national competition, the final design called for 184 Memorial Units representing those that lost their lives at the site. Each Memorial Unit is a cantilevered bench, a lighted pool of flowing water, and a permanent tribute to each victim in one single element. Syska engineers coordinated with the landscape architect and designers to insure that the water supply and return system, as well as the power supply, would support each unit. An underground operations control center was provided to house these services.
