John Magliano, PE
NEW YORK, NY – May
6, 2008 – SH Group, Inc., parent company of Syska Hennessy
Group, Inc. and Syska Hennessy Group Construction, Inc.,
officially announced the retirement of CEO, John V. Magliano,
PE.
Mr. Magliano will remain as Chairman of the Board until the end of 2008. As
part of the firm’s succession planning, Gary Brennen, PE and Cyrus Izzo,
PE have been appointed Co-CEOs of the firm.
Mr. Magliano, a professional engineer who joined SH Group in
1970, has had a memorable career. During his 38 years with
the company he has served as principal-in-charge on high
profile projects for such prestigious clients as Goldman
Sachs, JP Morgan, New York Presbyterian Hospital, the United Nations,
US General Services Administration and the US Department
of Agriculture. After his retirement at the end of this year, Mr. Magliano will
continue to be involved as a consultant in the coming years.
A firm advocate of mentoring and team advancement, Mr. Magliano
previously served as Syska Hennessy’s Chief Engineer, and
led the company’s Technical
Leadership Committee where he focused on the continual improvement
of the technical capabilities of the company and its staff. In
1981, he established the company’s unique Engineer in Training
(EIT) program, an intensive training program for new engineers
just out of college designed to immerse them in SH Group’s
engineering techniques.
Mr. Magliano is one of the founding members of the ACE Mentor
program, a non profit group that provides mentoring for
high school students in the field of architecture, construction
and engineering. He is Chairman of the ACE Mentor
program of New York Board of Directors and is active with the annual Scholarship
Luncheon Committee and the guidance of his company’s mentor team. He
is also a Director of ACE of America.
A licensed Professional Engineer in 12 states, Mr. Magliano is
a Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and
the New York Building Congress and is a member of many technical
and professional organizations. He has
authored numerous articles in technical journals and has been an adjunct professor
at the NYU School of Continuing Education.
Mr. Magliano has served on a number of committees for the Town
of Eastchester, including the Town Zoning Board of Appeals. He
has also served as advisor to the Tuckahoe School District
Board of Education and the Preston High School Board of Trustees
and is currently a Trustee of Manhattan College.
