Newark Arena, The City of Newark and New Jersey Devils
In 2004, The City of Newark constructed a new 800,000 square feet, sport facility in Newark, New Jersey. The Newark Arena is comprised of spaces for box suites, supporting staff, press/media, team lockers, practice facility, facility support services, and an attached office building.
Syska Hennessy Group provided the design services comprised of a state-of-the-art, fully integrated electronic Security System. This is complemented by the deployment of full-time security personnel and contract security guards. The systems that Syska has designed include Access Control & Alarm Monitoring System (ACAMS), Photo Identification (ID) Badging, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance and recording, video intercoms and vehicular access control.
A Security Command Center (SCC) is included in the design which is the central monitoring location for the entire security system. From the SCC, all portions of the system can be monitored and controlled. It will house the access control system host and client workstations, video surveillance switching and digital recording equipment, CCTV monitors, master intercom station, security equipment racks, security operator console and all other necessary communication equipment for 24/7 surveillance. This location serves as the Command Post in accordance with National Hockey League Recommendations for Arena Security.
