The following guidelines
are offered to help you prepare or revise your electronic resume
to highlight the information
we need.
At the Top
Place your contact name, address, telephone numbers and email
address at the top of your resume where they are easiest to find.
Be Brief and Precise
Shorter is preferred but certain details should never be omitted.
Make sure the dates, names, titles and degrees cited are accurate.
Your resume should not exceed 2-3 pages at the most, and one
page may be perfectly adequate. Be careful to check your spelling,
grammar
and punctuation.
Work Experience
Begin with your most recent employment and list in reverse order
jobs with career relevance. List beginning and ending employment
dates using months and years. Cite the company name, location,
your title(s) and list actual projects you worked on by name.
Education
Refer to your highest credential or degree first and the institution
by name and location. Academic honors and GPA are strongly considered.
Affiliations and Registrations
List professional registrations, memberships and affiliations.
Personal hobbies and interests are less important.
References
It is not necessary to list these on your resume. However,
you will be asked for a list of references as part of the interview
process.
Optional Cover Letter
You may wish to include a cover letter in the comments section
of the online application. In the letter, no more than one page
in length, summarize your availability,
interest and qualifications for the job.
