These are some of the most common questions we are asked about working
at Syska Hennessy Group. If you have other questions, be sure
to ask our recruiter prior to your interview.
Q: How
large is Syska Hennessy Group?
A: We have over 600
employees in over 20 locations across the United States.
Q: Why
is this a good place to start my career right out of college?
A: Our Engineer Development
Program for new graduates helps ease the adjustment to the
workplace without diminishing your professional role and responsibilities.
Our team approach to projects emphasizes cross training and
mentoring. Overall, our company is committed to developing the
engineer as a whole, not just his or her technical skills, into
respected experts and versatile business leaders.
Q: What
should I expect in terms of starting salary?
A: Syska Hennessy
offers competitive salaries and benefits. Initial salary offers
are typically based on pre-established salary ranges and internal
equity - the notion that new employees' years of experience and
technical abilities should be matched or "slotted" to
the years of experience and skills of our existing staff. Salaries
are typically determined at the final round of interviews and
shared with you at the time of offer.
Q: What is the performance review
process?
A: Employees set annual
goals at the beginning of each calendar year. Employees are reviewed
quarterly and are eligible to be considered fo a merit increase each
year.
Q: What
is Personal Time Off?
A: Our company has
instituted Personal Time Off (PTO) in lieu of separate vacation,
personal and sick leave benefits. PTO enables eligible employees
to receive compensation for both scheduled and unscheduled
absences. Many people find this benefit much more practical
to use because of the unpredictable demands of family and individual
circumstances.
Q: What does the interviewing
and hiring process entail?
A: You will be contacted
for interviews with Human Resources and/or our Project Managers if
your background and qualifications are a good match with one of our
openings. We will also check your business references as thoroughly
and with as
many
sources
as
possible.
This
will include
a social security number trace and a motor vehicle/police records
check before an offer of employment is extended. If hired, you must
complete an I-9 form and bring documents to prove your legal right
to work in the United States on your first day.
