Cisco Systems, Inc., Greenfield Tier III Data Center, Allen, TX

To create the super-efficient model for future enterprise company data centers, Cisco Systems selected Syska Hennessy Group to design the world’s premiere data center.

To evaluate and compare technology options, the client mandated an extensive development and schematic design process for Syska’s team of data center experts. Although each technological component included in the final design is not necessarily unique when standing alone, when the components are pulled together into a single, integrated system, they provide a world-class data center.

One of the most impactful energy-saving features used in the Tier III, 25,000 sf of white space center is the utilization of outside air. It is estimated to provide more than $700,000 in annual electrical cost savings from an air economizer cycle, and another $300,000 to $400,000 in annual electrical cost savings from increased efficiencies from its dynamic rotary UPS system. The increased capital costs are offset by higher operating efficiencies, resulting in a payback of less than three years.
