Ever since Syska Hennessy Group helped design phase 1 of San Diego’s iconic convention center—which opened in 1989—we have proudly enabled our city’s physical transformation.
Syska provides MEP, technology, commissioning and architectural lighting design to the aviation, biotechnology, convention centers, corporate offices, healthcare, higher education and hospitality sectors.
Our work can be seen on the waterfront’s Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego and the iconic County Administration Center, in Terminals 1 and 2 at the San Diego International Airport, and on the campuses of University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University.
We’ve been part of the high-tech and biotech boom throughout the region, working with Biogen, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, ViaSat and their partners in the higher education research sector.
We’ve also helped San Diego establish itself as a national leader in healthcare through our work at UC San Diego Medical Center, Sharp HealthCare and Scripps Health.
San Diego International Airport’s expansion of Terminal 2 in 2009 challenged the design and construction community to do something never before accomplished at an airport: design a LEED Platinum building in Revit using design-build delivery.
We used CFD modeling and a myriad of energy performance tools to design a terminal ranking high in energy and water efficiency as well as passenger comfort.
Syska is at the vanguard of sustainable engineering, designing buildings to achieve carbon neutral and zero net energy (ZNE) goals by the integration of renewable energy resources, creative water reuse strategies, daylighting and natural ventilation designs. Our projects for the County of San Diego Housing and Community Development Services, Palomar College maintenance and operations facilities and Makers Quarter Block D office development demonstrate our strength in sustainable design across diverse markets and building types.
With weather like this, we take full advantage of all the San Diego region has to offer! Only a short distance away, we like to get together to hike after work and camp under the desert sky in the spring. In the summer, we fish in the ocean and rivers, and then ski and snowboard in the winter.
